A Day With A Friend

It really feels good when its a weekend. I dont have a shift and i could wake up as late as i want. I called up mona and asked her to have lunch with me. She invited me last night for a drinking session but i wasnt able to accompany her because i had a date with my fab friends. She asked me for a restautant that is not found in manila - her home place. So we ate at La Tegola in marina mall. It was both our first time to eat there.

Mona became my friend because of my boyfriend. They work together. She is originally from manila and was assigned here in cebu for a year now. Their company will be undergoing major changes and she has a strong feeling that she will be re-assigned back to manila. Its a sad news. So now she is making the most of her time left here. Mona and I never had any moment time together to go out alone. I then decided to accompany her the whole day. I asked her about the things that she wants to do that she cant do at home. Her answers were: eat at cheesecake etc, shop in white gold plaza (where we heard that there are a lot of great items on sale ALL the time), go to kawasan falls, go on a road trip down south, go to 22nd street for a comedy show and eat on restaurants that are only found here in cebu. For the whole year of staying here, she barely had the time of exploring those things because of too much work and most of the time, on her leisure, she cant find people to go with her. Most of her officemates are married. After we ate, we even went to mactan shrine for business. Yes, she works on a sunday whenever possible.

When we were done in mactan, we went to white gold. When we went inside, the word SALE met us at the front door. We checked what was on sale and voila! Adidas and Nike items were on 50% markdown. I could really tell that they were REALLY on sale because i saw some items that were also sold in sm or ayala and they had the same regular price. She went to the ladies' section and bought something. And me, well, i wasnt able to buy anything coz if ill start spending, i wont be able to stop myself from buying some more. nyaha!

We decided to rest in coffee bean and tea leaf, ayala. We took advantage of the shop's wireless internet connection and surfed the web. We had gone around the mall after resting. We checked on more items to shop. Unfortunately for me, i spotted this gorgeous pants which was on sale of half the price. This time i gave in to temptation - i bought it. Ever since i learned how to shop (like, all my life??? hahaha!), it is really hard to find a pair of pants with a perfect fit for me. I've got "meaty" legs - (i just prefer the word "meaty", so what! haha!). And so when it fabulously fit my thighs and legs, i just cant stand not buying 'em..

It was about 9 and our tummies were starving. For dinner, i brought her to Sinugba, Bai!. Its this grill house on top of the Holiday Plaza Hotel in ramos just accross Abuhan Dos. The food is good there. But what made it better was the fact that its at the hotel's rooftop. The air is fresh and the view of the city lights were fantastic. The price there is also very affordable. Its just like your eating at AA's or NeoNeo with greater ambiance. Its a must-try!

After that sumptuous dinner, we decided to go home. We were supposed to go to 22nd Street but its a sunday. So few people, so greater chance of okraying" us. And besides, we were both tired and sleepy - plus - full. She took me home then. She has a car, thats why. hehe!

So before i'll sleep tonight, ill publish this blog first about my day today...

Thank You for a fun day mon.. I really had a great time!

Good Night!

And Let The Countdown Begin!

And i did it!

After my shift that night she talked to me and heard what i had to say.. Now im officially on towards my separation from emax.. So, let the countdown begin!

Wednesday, April 15, 2009

Hmmm..

It's my break and im waiting for a 4-hour training scheduled an hour from now. Gosh, i hope it wont be a boring one. Im already sleepy.. i dont wanna get sleepier!

Today I decided to submit my resignation letter. Right after my trip last week, i couldn't wait to pass it to my boss. I really looked forward for this day for it marked the beginning of my countdown to be out of this company. Eperformax has been my second home for the past year. It gave me an opportunity to show the world what i got and that i can perform a greater task than what i usually do. Like any other companies, emax (for short), has also it own flaws. Despite of it all, i honestly learned to like it here. Anyway, going back to my resignation, i have already made up my mind. When i handed the letter, i felt good. But my boss insisted that she wont sign it yet not unless she and her boss could talk to me first after the shift today. Hmph! Well i dont have a choice. Maybe they'll try to retain me. But i know for sure nothing will make me change my mind. *sigh* I appreciate their effort though, i really do. I just have to do this for my own personal growth.

Stay tuned.. Lets see what'll happen.. *winx*

Holy Week 2009

It hit me, was it really holy? I went on leave for 5 days last week - in time for the holy week. And boy i had a whole lotta fun! I spent it in Kuala Lumpur and Singapore. That was my very first out of the country trip. I went with my family.

Well, this blog is really not about the holiness of the week but its about the trip.. :) I was realy excited and looked forward on so many things. This is it, i am travelling abroad! It has always been one of my dreams to go outside of the country. In a span of 2 months, i was able to get a passport, saved as much cash as i can, bought everything that i needed for the trip, applied for a 5-day vacation leave (which in my job's case, its 'almost' impossible to get approved for it), filed my endorsements for any tasks that i left (special mention to britz and jumax for helping me out, thanks), purchased tickets (this part is so sad because of the fact that i didnt book earlier, the prices were outrageous!) and googled a lot of information for our trip's itinerary. We didnt get a package tour since we were going to 2 different countries and we got some friends who were so kind to take us to interesting places without spending too much (thank you ate jing, june, justin and kim2x).

Let me share what happened..

April 4 (sat) @ 3:15 pm - cebu to manila flight via pal, it was delayed for 30 mins - therefore prolonged my excitement for half an hour, grrrr.. hehehe.. Our flight to KL c/o cebu pacific, was scheduled 8:++ pm so we ate dinner at naia terminal 3 (since cebupac flights are situated there) while waiting for our flight. Oh by the way, thanks also to jane who took care of our ride for terminal 3. My excitement level was soaring every minute that passed by. When 8pm striked, we were aboard for our first stop of our holy week trip - Kuala Lumpur.

We arrived around 12:30 am. We weren't able to stop ourselves from taking pictures along the runway and on different foreign aircrafts around. We took a cab going to ate jing's condo (Casa Mutiara). There we gathered enough energy for our first adventure. We slept for about 3 hours, woke up around 5:45am and prepared for the "city of entertainment" - Genting Highlands.

- aerial view -

Genting Highlands is a mountain peak within the Titiwangsa Mountains on the border between the states of Pahang and Selangor of Malaysia and is home to a famous mountain resort by the same name which can be reached by car from Kuala Lumpur in one hour. It is also accessible by the world's fastest and South East Asia's longest cable car called Genting Skyway. Unfortunately, the cable cars were under maintenance. We werent able to ride one, huhuhu :(.. It is sometimes informally known as the Las Vegas of Malaysia, dubbed the "City of Entertainment" as it is the only legal land-based casino in Malaysia, run by Resorts World Bhd, a sub-company of Genting Group. The resort, Genting Highlands Resort, also features many hotels owned by Genting subsidiaries including Awana Genting, First World Hotel, Genting Hotel, Highlands Hotel, Resort Hotel and Theme Park Hotel. Facilities in this resort include two theme parks, a Ripley's Believe It or Not! Museum, a wind-turbine sky diving simulator, golf courses and shopping malls(*wikipedia). It also houses a huge snow-environment park called - the Snow World. Of course, persons who grew up in a tropical country and never experienced 'snow' didnt let the day pass by without going inside. We were like kids running around throwing snow balls to each other. We also took pictures and played around to our heart's content. In the theme park, my favorite was the Space Shot. This is where you'll be taken around 15 kms high that you could already see the other island next to malaysia - and then, suddenly you will be dropped like a free-falling object and when you look down, you could really feel that your soul was like left behind all you could think of doing is just close your eyes and scream at the top of your lungs. It was an AMAZING experience! In fact, i went for a second round. hahaha! Other great things in genting are the other heart-pumping rides, elegant hotels, a huge shopping mall, fabulous resorts, breath-taking scenery of the mountains and virgin forests, super extra cozy weather (since its on top of the mountain) and a loooooooot of food! We spent the entire day there. Never did we have any dull moments. When we were in the bus going back to the city, we were so freakin tired. And when we arrived home, I immediately slept - with a smile on my face :)

Day 2 - we woke up early in the morning for our city tour. On this day we explored the capital of malaysia. Kuala Lumpur is a magnificent place. Despite of every obvious evidences of a progressive and highly urbanized city, you can still see the 'greens' - plants and trees that freely grow within the metropolis. The streets are so clean and you can barely feel the dust. Their means of transportation are buses and trains. There we learned how to comute. There are a lot of shopping malls around - from the low class type up to the elite-type malls. One of these 'elite' malls is The Pavilion. It has many signature branded clothes, shoes, jewelries, etc.. Another great about KL is shopping for electronics. Boy you'll get cellphones, laptops, digicams, videcams, mp3 players and more for very affprdable prizes. You want an example? We asked about a sony digicam that we can buy here in cebu for 30K ++. There, you can just buy it for 14K ++ and swear its original. The salesman was even surprised when we told him how much its costs here. The reason for it is that they barely charge their gadgets for taxes. Awesome! After a day of strolling and walking around, my feet hurt like hell. We had to go back home and rest for a bit.

Whats different about malaysia is also the length of their daytime. It was already 7pm and its still bright outside. The sun there begins to set at 8pm. Gosh! Imagine having dinner and its not yet dark outside. hehe.. And so we decided to eat late for dinner. Before doing so, we went to the KL Menara Tower. It is the fifth tallest telecommunication tower in the world. If you would look at the picture below, it looks like a giant scepter. The long "stem-like" body has elevators which is the primary mean of reaching the upper area. It also has a stairwell - but who would want to climb up using a stairwell anyway eh?? What makes it more amazing than the fact of being one of the world's tallest is that it has a revolving restaurant above that enables the diners to see the entire of Kuala Lumpur while eating. Plus, its so romantic up there, very ideal for lovers or perhaps a date with the family.. hehe.. just one level from the restaurant (im not sure if its below or above the resto), is a viewing deck for people who wants to see a beautiful view of the city and get educated with the fantastic facts about the city and the tower itself. In there, the floor is divided into 14 stations with windows and telescopes each. You will be provided with a video player with an earphone for different intrustions and interesting information of the places and structures that you can see in each window. The view there was wonderful!

- KL tower by day and night -

Right after the tower visit, we headed to KL's night market and China Town. Its so amazing how you can buy things there for very very cheap prices - provided that you have to be good with negotiating. (heavy ang hinangyu-ay para heavy sad ang discount). And guess what, I was able to buy a glow in the dark KL souvenir shirt for just 15 ringgit (that originally costs 50 ringgit). hahaha! I also bought other souvenir items and pasalubongs. We had our dinner in a chinese restaurant there. After we ate, we headed home and slept.

- the sunway lagoon -

Our third day was another exciting day for our trip because we went to... Sunway Lagoon! Its an amusement park located in Petaling, jaya malaysia. Its a different city. That was one of the most amazing amusement park that i have ever been in my entire life. For more info, here's there website: http://www.sunway.com.my/lagoon/. The place is ideal for everyone - kids, family, adults, lovers, tourists, local, etc.. I had even spotted kris aquino there and had our picture taken.. hehehe.. She was on holy week vacation too with here family and friends. O deva bongga?!? nakasabayan jud si kris! hahahaha! There we tried all the rides and adventures as we could. We spent the whole day there with sooooo much fun. We went home around 6 in the afternoon and prepared for our next stop - Singapore!

Our bodies were like beaten with an iron club. But they were all worthy because of enjoyment. Me and my boyfriend took a bus while the rest chose to take the plane. The price only differs around 15 ringgit. Our bus departed at 10pm. We had ridden in an economy class bus. We were really amazed with the bus's amenities because its like a business class ride here in the philippines. Our seats were so wide and can be bent over so we could lie down and sleep as if we were on a bed. The only difference with the economy and the business class there was the tv monitor. Economy class shares one tv infront while the business class has one monitor each of its seats. Well, who needs a monitor when all we did the entire trip was sleep. hehehe! we were so tired from our day at sunway lagoon.

We arrived in Singapore around 3 in the morning. Our drop off point was in beach road. There we were fetched up by kim2x. We went to his place and slept for about 4 hrs. When we woke up and had our first bfast in singapore, hehe, we prepared to go to the famous Sentosa. It means peace and tranquillity in Malay, is a popular island resort in Singapore, visited by some five million people a year. Attractions include a two-kilometre long sheltered beach, Fort Siloso, two golf courses and two five-star hotels, and the upcoming Resort Worlds at Sentosa, featuring the new theme park Universal Studios Singapore. We watched a dolphin show and went inside the Underworld (ocean park). The resort is very promising because of all its magnificent attractions. But i would have to admit that i was a bit disappointed because its not that complete yet. You could still see a lot of construction sites around. Well, i bet sentosa will be more attractive for me in future.

- sentosa -

The very first thing that i observed in singapore was the cost of literally "everything" there. EXPENSIVE! From the bottled water, to their food, clothes, shoes, etc.. Whew! DOLLARS jud! In my opinion, its nice to work there coz ul earn dollars and if you'll plan to go on vacation, go to malaysia.. hehehe.. Well, provided that you'll find ways to save as uch as you can and catch up with the cost of living in SG. We went home shortly to freshen up and eat. In the evening, we went on a tour at the merlion park. We took a train going there, walked a bit, and met a lot of fellow filipinos around. Around the merlion park, you can also see the singapore flyer, the fullerton hotel, the explanade and the queen elizabeth's walk park. Our night ended there. Our feet hurt more and i had a lot of foot soars.. :(

The next day was another exciting day - the city tour! We went to Orchard Street where many of the malls are located. There's this one mall called "Lucky Plaza", where filipinos gather. It is where many money transfer services to phils are found. We had lunch in a filipino restaurant there. Grabeh kamahal sa food! pero bahala na, nag-humba jud ko! Biyernes santo pajud to! What can i do? Malaysia and Singapore are muslim countries. You can hardly find pork entrees there. As in! After lunch we took off to other places around. Jumping from one mall to another. Oh and by the way, the second thing i observed in SG is the cleanliness of its surroundings. Vivacious! So far from our dusty, ever-polluted roads here. Spitting on the streets is sanctioned for $500. Video cameras are everywhere hence people there are so disciplined. But im not saying SG is a perfect country, there are also violators around of course. One side of the city is the Bugis Street. This is where you can find a lot of "buting-things" to buy - the down town area. We bought a lot of pasalubong there.

At night we then prepared to go back home. Our flight was at 12:05 AM. We again took a train - for the last time (huhu) to changi airport. We said our goodbye's to kim2x and prepared for our flight. We arrived in cebu at 4am. At last! Home Sweet Home!

So now tell me, was my week holy or what???

Bored!

Im bored! I wanna write something but i don't know what. Hmmmmm.. Today is the 1st day of the 4th month of the year. It was just like yesterday when we rushed to the stores and bought presents for the people we value and for the people we were just obliged to give to - christmas. And then came the new year when we listed our resolutions and made ourselves believe that we will change. I remember one of my resolutions was to lose weight. Gosh! Was it just my desperation talking or what?? until today, i can't even see or notice any changes at all. A quarter of the year already passed and my belly is still the same belly i had last year. Damn it! Well they say "never say die", haha! i think i'll go ahead and tell it to the marines. After the new year came the Sinulog festival. I got drunk and wasted but i didn't throw up. *sigh* just a quick trivia - i never experienced puking after i drink a lot. I easily get drunk. After 3 bottles of 500 ml red horse, then im down. Haha! such a kid! Even on hard alcoholic drinks. i never got to puke! Hmmm, maybe i should've included that in my resolution, ayt? This year, i should be able to puke! ew! The love month took place and valentine's day was sooo red! FIRE RED! I had a trip to guimaras, an island in iloilo known to be one of the largest producers of mangoes in the country. And as what we can remember, it was where the famous oil spill happened. Right now the beaches were safe to enjoy with. Uhmm, no offense to the people living there, but i didnt like the beach. It wasn't like the way i expected it - fine white sand, long stretch of the shore, and all that.. But i overlooked at it because my experience there was unforgettable. I enjoyed my stay there a lot. When march came, things became more stressful because of the final examinations at school and a lot of major changes that occured in the office. My head spun like crazy. Information was overloading and everyday the level of exhaustion was at its peak. Grrr! But now im glad those days were over. The semester had ended. Now im still facing the pressure at work and im sick of it. Well, i dont have a choice but to deal with it. *sigh*

Oh well, i am still looking forward for fabulous things that is in store for me this year. Despite the frustrating revelations, i am excited for whats waiting for me ahead.
